Striking Open-Plan Kitchen Extension
This project is a great example of how an unconventional design can create one of the most impressive living spaces in a home.
Rather than following a traditional square extension layout, the striking mono-pitched roof and full-height glazing make the space feel bright, spacious and full of character. The angled ceiling draws your eye upwards, flooding the room with natural light while giving the extension a unique architectural feature that sets it apart.
The open-plan kitchen has been designed with both style and practicality in mind. Sleek, high-gloss white cabinetry is paired with warm oak worktops and flooring, creating a clean, contemporary finish that still feels warm and welcoming. The central island provides additional workspace, casual seating and a natural gathering point for family and friends, making it the heart of the home.
One of the standout features is the seamless connection between the inside and outside.
Large aluminium bi-fold doors open the entire rear elevation onto the timber decking, creating a fantastic entertaining space and allowing the kitchen to flow effortlessly into the garden. The full-height feature window follows the pitch of the roof, bringing even more daylight into the room and enhancing the feeling of openness.
Although the shape of this extension isn’t the most conventional, it’s exactly what makes it so special.
Every angle has been carefully considered to maximise light, space and usability, resulting in a modern kitchen extension that feels both practical for everyday family life and visually stunning. It’s a perfect example of how thoughtful design can transform a home into a bright, contemporary space that’s as beautiful as it is functional.
