Built with traditional brickwork that blends beautifully with the original property, the extension feels as though it has always been part of the house. Every course has been carefully matched to complement the existing brickwork, while the detailed soldier course above the glazing adds a subtle architectural feature that gives the elevation real character. The clean parapet roofline creates a contemporary finish without taking away from the home’s period charm.
The construction itself involved far more than simply adding extra floor space. Starting with new foundations and a reinforced concrete slab, the structural shell was built using blockwork and steelwork to create a large, open-plan layout. The installation of structural steel allowed the rear wall of the original house to be opened up, seamlessly connecting the existing home with the new extension and creating one continuous living space flooded with natural light.
From the side elevation, you can really appreciate the clean lines of the build.
The brick piers, crisp detailing and full-height glazing create a modern look while remaining perfectly in keeping with the surrounding property. Every element has been carefully considered, from the brickwork and roof detailing through to the positioning of the glazing, resulting in a finish that is both practical and visually striking.
The slimline anthracite aluminium bifold doors are the centrepiece of the project. Spanning almost the full width of the extension, they maximise the garden views while effortlessly bringing the indoors and outdoors together. Alongside the large rooflights, they fill the room with daylight throughout the day, making the new space feel bright, open and welcoming all year round.
